The Art of Display – My Kitchen Poster wall

An artfully curated gallery wall can be so pleasing to the eye. It can take our homes from drab to fab adding real personality to the interior of our rooms, turning a blank wall space into something very special.

When Poster Store asked me if I was interested in creating an interesting collage of prints for my home, I was thrilled and knew, immediately, the wall area in my home that could do with a boost.

The company are based in Sweden. They have a vast selection of Scandinavian wall art and picture frames that are designed and created by passionate artists from around the world. They also offer stylish high-quality frames which are easy to handle and hang up on the wall.

We had just started to do some updates to our kitchen, in November 2020, when lockdown hit us, once more, in the UK. So, everything came to a grinding halt. However, we did manage to get our front porch tiled and decorated (see here).

We have just recently continued with these updates to our kitchen, so this opportunity to add some great prints couldn’t have come at a better time.

I will share with you, in future posts, where we are at with our other updates, such as spraying our UPVC windows, fitting an integrated microwave as well as flooring – this is still ongoing but what a great place to reconvene, having these prints to arrange in the snug end of our kitchen area.

Our kitchen, like a lot of households, is the hub of our home. This is where we spend most of our time – eating, discussing, entertaining, partying, living……. I wanted the prints to show the personality and warmth of my family.

I had already seen a few ideas for “wall art” on fellow bloggers’ blog sites, Pinterest and Instagram, showing examples of how great a collage of art can look. I wanted these prints to reflect not only myself but my family’s personality. When I looked at the collection on offer, the first one that stood out was the retro poster of a vintage camera. If you have read my “About Me” page, you will know I am a budding photographer. So, I couldn’t resist this one.

For the next couple of choices, the posters centred around music. My hubby is a musician, so music is a very large part of our home, with musical instruments, as well as musicians, filling it most of the time! The ones he loved are the guitars and microphone posters – especially the microphone poster as it looked like the very first one he bought for his recording studio, many moons ago. I also included the Techno decks as my oldest son produces Trance/Dance music and he loved this poster.

We both love nature, so the bear and baby turtle were a great choice. We have swum with turtles in the Maldives and were fortunate enough to watch some fledgling turtles go into the sea, a few years ago, in Cancun – so this one was a must – and then, of course, the picture of coffee which we all love and is a must for me at the beginning of the day, to get me going! Lastly, the illustrated poster of two people greeting each other with a tender kiss, which I loved.

When the prints and frames arrived, they were expertly wrapped in protected layers. I was so impressed by the high quality sustainably produced paper they use for the prints. Once I’d assembled each print, I then measured the wall area and did the same on our kitchen rug. Then, I played around to see which order to arrange them (see one of my options, below). I did change things around a few times. If you need any guidance, they have a Gallery Wall guide on their website

I’m so pleased with the result, as are my family. Poster Store has a huge 50% discount available using this exclusive code: ALISON/35. This gives you 50% discount on all posters (except Selection Posters and frames). It is not combinable with other discount campaigns and is valid from Aug 27 to Sept 3rd.

The Poster Store is worth a visit. There is such a large selection. There is something for everyone. A great idea as a personal gift for a close one, a print that would be a special memory and worth checking as they release new posters, every week

Thank you for your time and I hope you have enjoyed reading this post!

This is not a sponsored post; however, I was gifted the prints and frames.

Alison xx
