As we tentatively tiptoe out of lockdown and out of the door, I’m looking at what to wear, right now. I’m changing my habits, slightly, and finding my fashion feet again. Our ever-changeable weather means there is still a need for warm layers. It’s certainly not the time to go without a coat or something warm to throw on.
In today’s post, I will show you what I have been wearing to beat the chill. Everything I’ve featured is fail-safe options, which will be perfect for Spring. They are from my wardrobe plus a few new additions, to spice things up. These are items that are comfortable and stylish, for anyone’s closet. They enable me to get ready without having to think about it. They are my staples, and whenever I wear them, they make me feel good. Hopefully, they will inspire you if you are looking for some ideas.
The coatigan, blazer and shirt in today’s post are from “Mint Velvet” (they are old favourites), a brand you can always rely on for superb quality. The jeans are from “& Other Stories” and “Warehouse”. The Breton top is from “Boden”. It’s “preloved”. I managed to buy it on Depop for £12.00. The bag is by Michael Korrs – it’s over ten years old.
It’s perfect weather to bring out the blazer. This is a piece of clothing that is so versatile. It’s transeasonal and able to work with several styles – never failing to be on-trend. I love the blend of timeless style and functionality a blazer brings. The blazer can add structure to a pair of casual jeans or a touch of glamour when it’s added to a statement dress. This MV double-breasted jacket is a quality cloth. It was a great investment piece (bought a few years ago) that will last a long time.
I talked briefly about this Camel Split Seam Coat, last year. Click here to see how I styled it. Back then, I had been lusting after it for a good while but didn’t want to pay £199.00. So, I waited, and it was eventually reduced to £79.00 in July of last year. I was quick to take advantage of the offer.
Since then, I have worn it a lot. With it not being lined and the wool being as light as a feather, I have found it to be a very versatile item to wear in the cooler summer months as well as winter.
Where jeans are concerned, I tend to go for an item that is right for me and authentic to my style, which for everyone is a personal thing. There are so many different styles on offer this season. It is a case of trial and error. A favourite style of mine is the high waist, straight leg jean. A few years ago, I bought a pair from “ Warehouse”. I wore them until they fell to bits – click here to see them on previous posts. I was determined to replace them. Then, I noticed a similar pair in the sale (“Warehouse”, again). So, I bought both the light and mid-wash. They are the most comfortable jeans and I’m thrilled I only paid £15.00 each for them.
My flared jeans which I bought recently are from “& Other Stories”. At first, I had noticed them on some very stylish ladies on Instagram. But I was originally inspired by Jenna Coleman in the TV series, “The Serpent”. I loved the seventies retro style of clothes she wore throughout this series. I’m wearing them here with my “Mint Velvet” military shirt and coat. You can also see them on my last post – click here to have a look.
My “& Other Stories” flares are currently £65.00. But, I managed to get a reduction of £12.00 taking the price to £52.00 (see the link below).
