Lately
Apologies for my leave of absence over the last month, or so. There have been a few reasons why.
To begin with, we had a little trip to Nerja (Spain). Nerja is one of the prettiest places I have visited. I’m currently putting together a post with lots of pics showing you where we stayed, dined and relaxed, just in case you are thinking of a trip to Europe, yourself.
I have been working, or “getting myself back, out there”, if you like. If you have read my “About Me” page, you will know that I’m now retired, apart from when I’m called upon from my last place of work to help out when needed.
Of course, this hasn’t been happening much at all over the last couple of years, due to COVID. I’m usually called upon three to four times a year and mostly with the same group of people who I have got to know a little bit.
What I love about this temporary work situation, apart from the extra money earned is, as a band of older workers, we are there to share our experience and knowledge, and to get the job done. And, for this short period of time, the terms and conditions are slightly different. For example, we don’t get pulled into everyday work politics, which is great.
We are also undertaking some major work on our home in the coming weeks. The roof is about to be replaced (big expensive job) and some rendering work done, as well as paintwork updates, too! Oh, the joys!
Now onto today’s post…….I was hoping that the sun loungers would be out along with my summer finery!! No such luck! Our good old UK weather has been seasonably colder with a lot of rain, which has meant strapless summer dresses are slow in making an appearance!!
I have been wearing a few dresses, lately (in defiance) – layering with cardigans and blazers. I do hope this changes soon and we experience some warmer weather, as it cheers everyone up. This is what I have been wearing over the last couple of weeks, mainly to keep warm!

Loving the denim dress with the diamond shapes. Weather is still not great, I’m going to a garden party on Sunday and the forecast is rain! I’m interested to hear about your part time work and retirement, I’m about to retire myself. Have a good weekend x
All the different blazes looks is amazing! I never think of putting a blazer with dress, I love that look on you 🙂
Love the blazers and the sundress is lovely on you Allison, so fun with those espadrilles. Hopefully the sun will shine soon and you ll be done with the rainy days for a bit! We had some weather like that. Sounds like your work temp situation is good and that you all learn from each other. Congrats on the retirement ! There is always something to do with houses, isn’t there? I don’t like painting, some people do.
Have a great week!

I’ve just been informed by my husband that the warmer weather is on it’s way at the end of the week….hooray! The roof is being replaced this week – can’t wait for it to be all done. Hope you’re having a lovely weekend Jess.xx
That dress with the diamond shape is really fun: it gives the appearance of them being buttons. Good luck with the house improvements. We are trying to get a new kitchen island and everything is taking so much longer than I expected.

Thank you. We’re having awful weather so this dress isn’t getting much of a run out, though, my husband has just told me this morning that we are going to experience warmer weather by the end of the week. Hope it’s lovely where you are! The roof is being removed this week, can’t wait for it be all done. xx
Sounds like a busy time for you with all that work around the house. You look great in all these looks, especially the first dress styled with leopard accents.

I used to hate office politics! I was so glad when I left it all behind (I was made redundant over ten years ago). Crikey, you’re having the roof replaced? That sounds like a horrendous job! We’ve just moved house and we’re now waiting to start building so I’ll probably know how you feel soon enough!
Hugs
