Midlife Adventures! Travelling Solo To Hong Kong

Midlife and Beyond Life, Style and Beauty

Hong Kong Taxi – Central Area

Hello friends,

I recently mentioned that I have planned a solo trip to see my son in Hong Kong.

Travelling alone to the other side of the world is rather daunting and though I have travelled alone, frequently, throughout the years, I’ve never been on a long trek such as this…..So, new experiences and adventures are ahead.

First leg of my journey to Amsterdam. What a beautiful sunset!

I haven’t seen my son for over a year and miss him so much. All of the WhatsApp/Skype calls in the world do not make up for seeing him and breathing the same air.  This is the longest time away from any of my two children! So, off I trot to the other side of the world to spend time with him, meet his new friends, and generally enjoy his company.

While I’m there, I have booked us into a hotel in Macau for a few nights of fun away from the city. This is known as the “Las Vegas of the East”

We are both excited to experience it. I am going to take photographs and keep a diary, not only of my trip but also to document how I organise my flights, accommodation, etc, as it may be useful to any of you who are thinking of travelling, solo, yourself.

I will be away most of November, returning in December, with my experiences, plus, what it has taught me about myself, now,  in midlife. Until then, wish me luck!

Here’s a few photos from the beginning of my journey.  Apologies, they were quick shots taken on my (very old) iPhone.

    • The prize of seeing my son pushed me forward. I’ve learned a lot about myself on this journey, I’m enjoying it so much.x

    • So far so good😂I’m having a wonderful time with him Marsha. Thank you. x

  2. I never have traveled that far solo! I think the furthest I have done on my own was from California to France when I was 18. I guess it was a pretty long trip but since I had lived in France growing up it was not a big deal. Safe travels!
