Two bewitching, sustainable dresses to take me into Autumn!!

It was about a month ago, as I was doing, my quick circumnavigate around the fashion aisle in our local supermarket (Sainsbury’s) prior to doing the food shop, that two dresses from the Tu’s Premium “Clothing Collection” caught my eye.

Like most of us, I rarely have time to loiter in the fashion department for long. I made a quick mental note to revisit these two little beauties when I had more time.

Roll forward one month (another big food shop waiting to be done) and, unbelievably, there they were – half price in the sale!  Now, all I had to do was find my correct size which, as you know, can differ from brand to brand. I must also confess it’s not my favourite thing sifting through sale rails – everything is always jumbled up.  This time all was quite orderly.

I’ll also mention that Tu meets the ethical and technical minimum requirements. They have a dedicated team in the UK as well as their offices in Asia, who have the responsibility for everyday management of ethical issues. They work with their suppliers by conducting site visits, advising on best practice and training to ensure sustainable clothing.

PREMIUM Mustard Yellow Palm Print Fit & Flare Dress – bought in the sale for £17.50

One of the things that attracted me to this dress was the “fit and flare” style, which has withstood the test of time. It’s a design that looks equally great on all shapes and sizes. If, like me, you have a rectangular kind of figure, then this dress should work for you – because it gives the illusion of curves. And, if you have a rounded tummy, the fit-and-flare silhouette snatches the waistline-in a lovely complimentary way. Something we all can appreciate.

I like the understated mustard yellow palm print. It gives the dress an interesting colour balance. It is a lovely light cotton and it’s lined with an invisible side zipper, and it’s true to size. To me, this dress looks a lot more expensive than it is.

It can go from day to evening, switching from sandals to heels, along with statement accessories. I also thought it would be a great dress for a wedding, matched with a fabulous hat or fascinator and heels, along with a fabulous statement handbag.

This dress is a great transitional piece for Autumn, worn with a great jacket, woollens and ankle boots as i’ve demonstrated in the photographs.

PREMIUM White Schiffli Lace Midi Dress – bought in the sale for £17.50

Nothing captures that balmy sunshine filled day more than a lovely white dress, but, like the perfect pair of jeans, it can be quite tricky to find the right one.

I really liked this wafty, white lace dress, at first sight. As I’m buying this dress late in the season, it will be mainly for next year, unless, of course, we have a balmy Indian summer. I have matched it here with a Zara brown jacket, Marks and Spencer’s brown suade ankle boots, along with an animal print leather bag from Next.  As a transitional piece. There are no rules!!

This dress is light and airy. The material is crisp and lined in cotton. It is a great versatile piece that I will get a lot of wear out of.

It has a very flattering v neck and a lovely buttoned-down detail at the front. The length is midi with a subtle, tiered hem at the back. I thought it had a retro vibe to it. The material is 100% cotton. I was extremely pleased with the quality, design and perfect fit. Plus, of course, it’s excellent value for money.

Thank you for reading my post. I hope you enjoyed it.  If you have any questions, please let me know in the comments.

    • Thank you, Mireille. They are a great addition. I tend to buy in the sales for the following year, especially, if my current dresses are looking a little worn and tired.

  4. Wow, what steals! I love dresses in the summer.. Ok, in the winter.. anytime! I love the mustard and white print, I have a Mango dress that is similar except the cut is a shirtdress. This style is lovely and I love the changes for Fall you made. I am wearing booties now too, even if it is 90!
The white is beautiful, I love the flowy style and it must have been meant to be, as you went back to the store and it was on sale!

    • Thank you, Anna. I couldn’t believe it myself when I saw this dress in the sale. Think

  6. What great dresses for fabulous prices and sustainable, too! That is winning all the way around. Both look so lovely on you. I do love white eyelet. I would pair that beauty with black combat boots and a leather jacket for the fall! The mustard one is equally gorgeous. I love how you have created the perfect transitional outfits with both dresses.

    • Thank you Shelbee. I was in the right place at the right time to bag
both those dresses in the sale. Lucky the good old food shop needed to
be done (yet again). Love the idea of combat boots with those
dresses. That is such a cool look!

    • Thank you, Sherry. Looking at that picture now with autumn
firmly on its way I feel quite sad – I do love the vibrant
      colours of the new season.

    • Thank you, Ruth. I’ve just packed the white dress away until springtime. I think
it’s time for cosy knits now!

    • Thank you, Michelle. They are both packed away for next summer, which
seems so long away now! xx

    • Thank you, Elise, – the colder weather is now upon us unfortunately, so they are packed
