Summer Ready!

My family do love their holidays abroad. They don’t have to be massively expensive – in fact, I do like a bargain if it’s on offer. I do, however, insist on a nice place to stay along with great bars and restaurants nearby, plus a nice stretch of sand to loll on. Like a lot of people, we’ve been discussing the pros and cons of going on holiday (escapism, I think). And, the possibility of being allowed to go has been a regular topic of conversation in our family.

We would have accepted “no, you can’t” but the rules are changing, daily. If it hadn’t been for the fact that we have two big birthdays coming up – my son’s 30th and my 60th – we would have probably given up on the idea. Prior to all of this going on in our world, we had planned to go away for a celebration, together. Since then, we have gone from it being an impossible task to a “maybe”. So, we will watch and see if it’s possible, or, alternatively, we may err on the side of caution and wait it out to see if things improve in the months to come.

Last year, I wrote a post talking about the versatility and comfort of wearing a jumpsuit – click here if you want to check it out – How To “Rock” A Jumpsuit!

It was a nostalgia trip writing this post.  From being young, I’ve always worn jumpsuits. Even when I was pregnant, I wore one from Laura Ashley. It had the most fabulous print.  This was so easy to “throw on” especially when you are at that “can’t be bothered” stage. I felt fabulous in this jumpsuit, not frumpy at all with my growing bump.

In this post, I thought I would show you a few lightweight summer playsuits that I wear at this time of year and for holidays – especially if we are lucky enough to have a heatwave.

They are so fuss free and versatile for the warmer months, easy-breezy, to throw on over a costume, on holiday, or acceptable enough to wear on a warm day at home. I know the whole getting on/off scenario is not for everyone. I like mine to be slightly baggy so I may size up. This makes them super comfortable. Trying them on is also important. Plus, I’ve always avoided stiff, rigid material – movement is “key”.

Aldo slip-on mules , which are so comfortable!

I’ve owned the black bandeau jumpsuit for several years, it’s lasted so well and kept it’s quality.  It’s a lovely lightweight cotton – not heavy or rigid, and very comfortable.

This navy jumpsuit is from the now-closed “Warehouse” – which I will miss so much as I bought so many of my favourite clothes from them. I bought this one in the January sales. I have styled it with an orange cardigan from “TU Clothing” bought, last year.

  1. Always forget to wear my jumpsuit! Maybe should move it in a different spot in my closet! We are just going to hike and enjoy the pool this summer. Maybe next year, we will travel since our vacation fund will be nice from not having gone anywhere!

Both are very flattering on you, Alison! I love the blue / orange combination. We’ve decided to cancel a cruise we booked for next February and just stay local.

You look great in your jumpsuits. The combination of the navy polka dots with the orange cardigan is a winner! It’s such a shame about Warehouse closing.

It’s my 60th this year too – we’ll probably go away for a quiet (luxury) weekend. No holidays abroad this year but maybe a staycation.

Thanks for linking up at #WowOnWednesday.

  7. Ohh, what an adorable jumpsuit on you! Polka dots always make me happy. I love the black jumpsuit, too… I’ve been wanting to find a black one to accessorize different ways.

I do hope you will get to celebrate those big milestones of 30 for your son and your 60th. I know so many plans had to be cancelled this year. We had a beach trip with our entire family we had to cancel.
