“Must Have” Perfume Dupes.

Dupes A few weeks ago, I wrote a review on a duplicate for my favourite “Pixi Glow Tonic” (£18.00) which Aldi was selling for £3.99.  In today’s post, I thought I would share with you some Aldi perfume dupes  that I have discovered, without the hefty price tag.

Aldi is very good at releasing products that aren’t quite the real deal but close enough to still be a winner.  The similar ingredients and price difference can’t be ignored.  I was so impressed by the glow tonic dupe that I now buy it, whenever possible. Though, during the present “lockdown”, their stocks have been very low. So, I have reverted to my trusted “Pixi Glow Tonic”.  Read my review here.

DupesDupes My latest find from Aldi is their “Hotel Collection – Eau De Toilette”, a line-up of fragrance combinations that are notably close to “Jo Malone London” bestsellers, both visually and scent wise.  Of course, nothing beats the real thing – or does it?The choice of fragrance on offer isLime, Basil & Mandarin,Velvety Rose, or Pomegranate These are names which you may find familiar if you’re a big “Jo Malone” fan, as I am.  Both “Lime, Basil & Mandarin” and “Pomegranate Noir” have been my favourite signature fragrances for a long time.

DupesBoth “Jo Malone” perfumes I wear bring back memories of years gone by.  It’s a fact that our brain learns to associate smells and aromas with certain emotional memories. This is probably why I stick to the same familiar scents. They bring comfort, pleasure and can certainly lift my mood.

Dupes

I bought the Lime, Basil & Mandarin and Pomegranate (Aldi version).  The cost is £5.99 per 100ml – compared to Jo Malone’s £100.00 and over price tag.  It is difficult to ignore the price difference.  If your budget doesn’t stretch to the original, or you just want to save the pricier stuff for special occasions, it’s worth popping one (of each) into your trolley. I did!!

Dupes There is a saying that “nothing beats the real thing”. But, the Aldi dupe is very good and worth the outlay.  I’ve tried other so-called dupes of JML “Pomegranate Noir” and haven’t been very impressed, so far, until now.  I’m also a fan of their room diffusers (£3.49).  I have two dotted around my home – they have the same scent as this perfume range and I can highly rate them.  I certainly couldn’t warrant spending £64.00 on the JML version of their room diffuser.

Aldi also do candles in this range. I haven’t tried them, yet, but fully intend to, as they have great reviews, too.  I always make a point of reading reviews of what the other shoppers think. The reviews on these items I’ve mentioned, today, speak for themselves.

DupesWhether you want to try the newcomers or some of their much-loved predecessors, I must warn you that the availability of Aldi perfumes does vary greatly depending on which “Special Buys” are on offer at the time. They also frequently get discontinued and/or reinvented – so the only way to know what’s current is to check online or head into your local branch and see what they have in stock.  I phoned their 0800 number before going to my local branch to see if they had the perfumes in stock.   They were able to tell me they had a box of each at 8.00am that morning.  I have learnt that some “best buys” sell out fast! Some of the products are sold online and some in store only.

Another great find from Aldi is these sheepskin slippers (above, right).  I have bought them two years running. I think you will agree, for £15.99, they are such a bargain.  I have another pair almost identical from John Lewis (on the left” and they were over £49.00.  I’ve checked on-line and they are only available in all sizes at the moment

Firstly must say what a gorgeous picture of you sitting on the arm of your settee.
I am not a huge perfume wearer to be honest, probably as I can be prone to allergies. When I was younger I did wear it a bit though ( mainly for nights out) and my favourites were Estee Lauder ones and Rive Gauche, Cinnabar and Fendi ( the latter two being quite strong & I would probably hate them now !!!) More recently I have worn New York by good old Marks and Spencer after smelling on a girl who worked as cabin crew for us, she had access to lots of perfume and this was one her preferred everyday scents. I love the very subtle smell it has and it doesn’t set me off in any allergic reactions either !!! For the price though I think I will check out my local Aldi, I have never smelt any Jo Malone fragrances so I am non the wiser if they are near the real deal ! Thank you for a great post and perhaps this might be the start of a fragrance revival for my much longed for trip out to the local ! xx

    • Karen, firstly I’m longing for that trip to the local too – just to see familiar faces, we
humans need to be amongst other humans. I got to know “Pomegranate” as a friend of mine was
wearing it, sothis started my addiction to it, though I do love trying other perfumes as
well. I have to be careful too as far as allergies go especially as I have got older – I’m
sure I could spray any old thing on in the early days and I wouldn’t have any reaction, not
now. I do hope you like my recommendations, many thanks and enjoy the rest of your week. xx

    • Thank you, Jess. I love floral scents too. And, was so impressed with these. Hope you’re having a lovely weekend! xx

  2. Loving your tulle skirt Alison! I’m very interested in the sound of all this from Aldi – I love the original Pomegranate but this sounds perfectly acceptable. Thanks for sharing your insights!

    • Thank you, Gail. I’m thinking of returning the skirt as it’s too big – plus, I’m not sure if
it’s really “me”, maybe I’ve been in my joggers too long. I’ve been naughty and managed a
pic in it first. The duplicates are very good in my opinion – I know they won’t be for everyone
but they are such a great price too!

  3. Aldis is the best! I haven’t seen any of their fragrances here, but I do love their candles! They smell much more expensive than they are!

    • I’m so pleased you have Aldi in the US. Some of their “special buys” are great dupes for the real thing at a fraction of the price. I am so impressed with the perfumes, so I’ve stocked up!😊 I’m going to try their candles next as they have great reviews too. Enjoy the rest of your week. x

    • Me too, especially at the moment, our food bill is much higher while in lockdown. I couldn’t resist these perfumes though. They really do smell like the real thing.

    • The two mentioned are my favourite go to perfumes, and have been for over ten years. Hope
      you like them.x

    • They really do, and the price difference can’t be ignored. They won’t be as effective
as the “real thing”, but I’m impressed. Enjoy the rest of your week.xx

I agree with Jess and Gail, that skirt looks amazing on you. I’m just thinking of when I could wear one like like that.

    • Thank you, Susan. It’s the Spring equinox this weekend, so hopefully when restrictions are
lifted in a few weeks we can dress in our favourite clothes, ones which makes us feel
better. As comfortable as my joggers are they don’t make me feel good. Enjoy your weekend.

I will have to take a look at these Alison. I like the pomegranate Noir too! xx

    • In my opinion, the Aldi dupe smells so much like Pomegranate Noir. I’ve also bought a Pomegranate dupe from Primark but it
didn’t smell the same. Hope you’re having a good weekend! xx

  6. Great review of these products, Alison! I have been in need of new perfumes for quite a while now but I hate spending the money on them! I like this idea of less expensive brands. Your photos in this post are so fun, too. I love your tulle skirt and head scarf! So cute! Thanks for linking with me.

    • Thank you, Shelbee. These alternatives are a great alternative, and such a
great price too. I’m not keen on spending the money either – perfume
      is so expensive. x

    • Thank you, Celyn. For that great price it’s worth trying them. I’m wearing both perfumes
all the time, they make me feel good. Enjoy the rest of your week.

    • It’s a great dupe. There’s a few around and this is the best one I’ve found. Enjoy the rest of your week. xx
